DMIS SLT - CPD ACTIVE LEARNING WORKSHOP

A four-member academic team comprising of Principal- Mr. Rakesh
Singh Tomar, Senior Academic Coordinator- Mr. Sabu Thomas,
Middle School Academic Coordinator- Mr. Dinabandhu Biswas and
Primary Academic Coordinator- Ms. Priya Viju participated in
Active Learning Workshop by Pearson India Education Services
Pvt. Ltd. on 20th May, 2017. The theme of the workshop was ‘Strategies
and Tools to Monitor Active Learning in the Classroom’. It
was organized by Qatar Chapter Principal Forum.
The resource person was
Ms Asllesha Thakur-
a passionate educationist, involved in the
holistic growth of schools in the current scenario. She is a
trained school accreditation assessor from NABET. Her insight
into the new approach to learning was to prepare students to
face the future by teaching those skills of learning to learn.
Through different activities during the workshop, she drove home
the importance of making classroom learning interactive which
depended on three pillars-
learner-centered, deep learning, and knowledge construction.
She also dwelt upon the key points
that the school leaders should bear in mind while monitoring the
active learning in the classroom. Further, in a nutshell, she
said that in a classroom teaching-learning scenario, the
students are the owners and drivers of learning while the
teachers are the designers of learning.
